June
Club tryouts, designation to a team, initial fees due – teams begin to organize.

July/August
D-I and D-II teams begin formal practices (usually twice a week). D-III teams hold organizational practices. VFC team camps begin under supervision of club coaching director and in coordination with team coach (usually late afternoon activity lasting 2 hours/day for one week). Optional preseason tournament for D-II and D-III teams. Team Installment payments in July and August. League Play begins mid-August. Possible team fundraisers prior to season.

September
Labor Day Tournament for D-I (optional D-II). Games are usually scheduled for Saturday and Sunday afternoons; however, local opponents may be played during the week as fields are available outside Madison.

October
League play continues. Practices continue. D-II and D-III play local tournaments. D-I plays out of state tournament. End of season tournament for D-II, D-III.

November
D-I State Cup (U15-U18) end of season tournament. D-II State Cup (U14-U18) end of season tournament. D-I and D-II Thanksgiving Tournament (optional). D-III Governor’s Cup (State Cup for D-III).

December – February
Indoor activities begin (optional). Indoor clinics with small-sided training and friendly game play (optional). Indoor league in Birmingham begins for those teams interested (optional). Periodic outdoor practices for teams U-12 and above continue as long as weather allows. ODP evaluations and season begins.

March
Outdoor activities begin as soon as weather allows. Spring League begins (recommended, not mandated).

April
Outdoor clinics (optional). Practices League games usually once a week. Local tournament recommended for all divisions (optional). VFC Friendly Cup recommended for all VFC teams.

May
Spring league ends. Clinics continue (optional). D-I State Cup (U13-U14, U19), D-II State Cup (U11-U13), State Tournament recommended for other D-I and D-II teams (optional). Tryouts for next seaonal year begin in June.

Special Note
D-I/II teams who win State Cup will go on to compete in the Regional Tournament in June/July of the following year. Most of these teams will continue to practice and compete weekly until that competition. Winners of Regional Competition will compete in August for the USYSA National Championship. Optional activities cost in addition to projected fall/spring costs.
